Partying with Perry Belcher
I was out visiting Pat Fenner’s blog this morning and saw that she had a video of Perry Belcher explaining the purpose of social networking sites.
It happens that Perry’s name came up briefly as Alex Jeffreys was talking about how to use Twitter for developing relationships with people. The webinar was fascinating because we could watch how people were connecting live. Alex was telling us about some of the friends he has made as a result of being part of the Twitter community.
What I really appreciated hearing from Perry’s video is that he does not use it to make money, he uses it to meet and talk with people. He likens it to going to a party.
I’ve added it because Perry does an excellent job explaining how to use social media. Let me know your thoughts.
If you watch the video, be aware that he uses some “course language” as Pat described it.

Hello Theresa,
Nice introduction of Perry Belcher’s social media marketing video released several days ago.
Seems that was a prelude to another that was released a few days ago with Mike Dillard (Perry’s sales lead two) where they announce the forthcoming social media marketing video course series. He definitely brings up some very interesting points to remember when interacting on the various social media sites.
It actually triggered a reaction blog post from me about a number of “Hi there … here’s my product” pitches I had encountered on several of those sites.
If you have a chance, please give my blog a visit ( http://prospectgencoach.wordpress.com/ ) and let me know what you think.
Thanks … you’ve been RSS’d!
Hi Theresa,
This is a good video, I saw it last week on someones blog, i think it was Martin’s.
How’s your traffic plan coming along?!
I have put a post on my blog about traffic tactics that have worked for me so far. One of the best has been Squidoo. I only have one lens on there at present but it has been a high traffic source.
My youtube video has also had a lot of hits and driving traffic to my ppp. I haven’t used twiter to it’s full potential but the tweetmyblog plugin is very effective (details in my post).
Let me know what’s working for you!
All the best
Mark

Hi Mark,
I’ll check out your post on traffic. I’ve decided it would be a good idea to write my plan out in the form of goals and then make a post on my blog.
I spent some time yesterday updating my squidoo lens on Alex. I’ve been using Squidoo for several months; other topics than IM, though.
Video is certainly a powerful source and I’ll be developing some instructional type videos in the near future addressing issues that I’ve struggled with and now have resolved. Hope it will be of help to others with same problems.
See you later,
Theresa
Hi Theresa,
thank you for stopping in at my blog, and thank you for posting this video. Perry Belcher does a really good job of explaining social media doesn’t he? I’ve written out a list of traffic driving ideas and will be posting it at my “house” shortly, I’ve also added you to my blogroll. I have a question you may be able to help me out with, I know our next brainstorming session is 2pm EST, however I couldn’t quite hear properly, did Alex say 2pm EST Sunday or did he say 2pm EST Monday? Thanks Theresa, look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Ann Marie,
So good to see you!
The next brainstorming session is on Monday at 2pm EST. Good thing, too. We all need a few days in between the marathon sessions, don’t you think?
Talk with you soon,
Theresa
Hi Theresa,
thank you for getting back to me so quickly! I’ve just done the time conversion, looks like it’s going to be an early start for me Tuesday morning, I’ll be on the call at 5am…what’s that they say about the early bird? Shall see you there Theresa

Hi Theresa,
I heard you on the call Thursday night talking about your blog, I like your theme, it looks great, I especially like your use of videos in the blog, I need to get up to speed on doing that myself. I was so glad to see your comments above where you mentioned posting some helpful info on how others of us can learn from some of your video challenges. That’s what makes this journey so much fun — all the helpful fellow students.
I’ve already added your blog link in my blogroll and I hope you’ll do the same for me.
Enjoy your snow, you have a beautiful back yard!

Hi Theresa,
Your reply made me laugh. You have a wicked sense of humour. I like that!!!
I am out of the course now, I don’t like being upsold to by my so called mentor!
Take care and best wishes for the future.
Hi Theresa, thanks for dropping by. Well since the 3.00am finish and go to bed on Friday morning I have not had a chance to get very much done in the driving traffic stakes.
Friday was my Volkswagen Club’s Xmas dinner and that was another 2.00am to be night and Saturday was a must do some Xmas shopping type of day.
Today I had the bungalow to clean, washing to do etc etc, perils of being a bachelor! Was due to have visitors this afternoon so could not get into much and then that was postponed to this evening so complete wipe out really.
As for the sign up box withing the sites Widget column well my guess here is that perhaps you have a wizzier box than I do with borders etc? I used a simple non bordered or sized code and it has worked fine, more by luck than judgment I reckon.
I have visited a few of the higher profiled blogs and left some comments and also popped some posts onto a couple of Social sites to see if that gets things going.
since putting the site up I have also been sending E.Mails to the members of List Joe, List Dot Com and Viral URL as I have been using them for a while. Within hours of initial launch I saw quite a bit of traffic but this has waned in t eh past few days probably as everyone is caught up in the Xmas fever too.
I have also produced my own banner and placed a banner ad in one of the banner exchange sites to test that water too.
With all of my previous efforts this is always the point where things seem to stagnate a bit so hope this wont be the case this time.
Norman
Hi Bri,
Sorry to see you leave the program and hope to stay in touch. At some point in the future I’ll have my own product and will need graphics if you’re in the market for a customer.
Alex’s email is teaching us by doing (does that make sense?) He has given great value in the form of the coaching course; over delivered by 200% or more, in my opinion and I expect that he will continue to send out an email now and then when he has a product of great merit to offer.
Wishing you much success,
Theresa
Hi Theresa,

It will send your productivity through the roof!
I’ve added you to my blogroll.

Hi Norman,
Welcome to my home. I like your ideas of using some traffic exchanges and emailing listjoe. I’ve heard some people using it with success. We’ll see.
I finally got “outside the box” with my opt in. I was over at (oh darn, I can’t remember her name) blog. She had the directions on how to add text in the side bar.
For anyone else struggling with this:
Go to Appearance, click on Edit, click on sidebar2.php (on the right side of the page) and then paste your Aweber form code. I just typed in the text without any kind or php language and it looks ok. I’m sure someone with any knowledge about this could make it look spiffier, but it will do for now.
I’ll add you to my blog roll, Norman and thanks again for the traffic tips. Do you want to enter them in my contest? Come back and leave a comment on the Post titled “Best Resource Tip Contest”.
See you later,
Theresa
I really liked the video – it does make the social networks look alot less daunting now. Just as Alex says, just be yourself.
Please add me to your blog roll as I will add you to mine. Have just started getting it together. Bye for now
Hello my friend!
I`m taking a round trip to everyones blog to say hello.
I just got my site up after some trouble with my hosting company. All I had on the site got deleted, so I had to build it all over from scratch… but thats life. We`re all set now
It will be a long and interesting brainstorming session today!
By the way, have you added me to your blogroll?

Hi Andre,
Thanks for stopping by on your “rounds”. Ooh, that must have been a panic to have your site deleted . . . sounds like you handled it with grace.
I have added you to my blog roll and am on my way over to visit with you.
All the best,
Theresa
Hi Theresa,
I heard you on the call tonight, and bookmarked your blog so I could come back and watch the Perry Belcher video…which I’m listening to even as I write this.
I’d love to put some videos on my blog…was it hard? I’m planning to hunt down the guy who has a video how-to guide on his blog…LOL!
Best wishes for your success!
