How To Stay Focused On Your Online Business
The subject of staying focused on your business came to me because I’ve been struggling with it lately.
It’s easy to come up with excuses about why I’m not accomplishing as much as I’d like. There are always distractions that seem important at the time. Do you know what I mean? It happens to everyone.
I have a list of things I’m doing to help with this problem of not being able to focus my attention.
Here goes:
1. Do not turn on the computer until my list of tasks for the day is written. This should really be done the night before, but in case it didn’t get done, then take care of that first.
2. Stick to blocks of time for each scheduled task. This really helps to keep me on track and I get a reality check of how long each task should really take (minus the distractions).
3. Talk with the people in your house about not interrupting you while you’re working. Even those one or two minute conversations will make me lose momentum and focus.
4. Turn off the email pop up that shows you have a new message.
5. Take breaks and get some fresh air and exercise. This helps me clear my thoughts.
6. Going back over the goals I created for myself reminds me of what I want to accomplish with my business.
Hope this helps. Let me know what works for you.
To your success,
Theresa

Hi Theresa,
Something wierd is going on. It could be my computer because I’m using IE8. When I first read your post it was in a black background. (very hard to read) Now as I type and scroll back up it’s white. Let me know if you think it’s my computer settings.
I got your comment. I haven’t done anything except work on my video. I just uploaded to youtube and I hope it works. Do I need to find a plugin to put it on my blog?
I really haven’t haven’t had a chance to look at the web prosperity because I just can’t fit it in. One thing at a time for me. I just hope I choose wisely.
Can you test this link for my video?

Hey Theresa
Sorry, it’s been a long while since I last visited and I think, if I recall correctly, it was a different, either that or I seriously have been out of contact for a decade of so.
Anyway, you tips on focusing is very handy, my method of focusing is I have found a playlist which is just over an hour long. And what I do is, I log into my youtube account, set the playlist on autoplay and then work until the music stops playing i.e. an hour later.
Then I just sit back and write down what I have achieve in that hour and better myself tomorrow by being even more productive in the same space of time.
Obviously like you said , the “to do list” has certainly come very handy. I spend an hour each week on a Sunday evening planning what to do for the coming week, or month.
Anyway all the best
Nigel
Hi Theresa,
Yep, Your site appears with a green background when I first open it. Then it quickly changes to black and stays that way until I go to comments.
Thanks for looking at my video.
I started with Windows Movie maker using stop motion animation. Windows Movie Maker kept crashing and I didn’t have the luxury of time to try the fixes shown on youtube videos. So I searched for another free trial that would do what I wanted. I found Stop Motion Pro.
The trial stated that it would put a watermark across the screen which I dismissed because if the software worked easy enough I would buy it for my 8 year old to use. Well as it turned out, it works very easy. I didn’t even use the features I wanted to like onionskinning. I thought after my purchase, the watermark would be gone, but not the case. And because were in a contest, I didn’t feel like I had time to remake it.
I had my trouble along the way and almost gave up because “the forces” were testing me. Sometimes my video camera did what it was suppose to do. Other times it would just cut off in the middle of my take. The cutting off explains the lousy lighting. I was running through some takes to see if the camera would stay on and the was the one that worked.
Thanks again for staying on top of me with WebProsperity.
