There is no point in creating a website unless you have thought about how you are going to get visitors. Whether your website is commercial or not then sooner or later you are going to want to attract visitors. You should devote your energies to getting the search engines to direct as many visitors as possible to your web pages. The search engines generate targeted traffic and the great news is its costs you nothing. Read the rest of this entry

What’s New With TipDrop

Jonathan Leger’s new brain child, TipDrop is fast becoming a popular and active microblogging site.

According to Jonathan, “it’s already generated 1,151,449 page views and 3,214 user-created tips on more
subjects than you can imagine! All this in the site’s FIRST WEEK!”

What does this mean for you and me? Well, there are a few things actually.

Let’s start with credibility. When you create a Tip Sheet, you’re declaring that you know something about a given subject and are willing to share your knowledge. Other people can submit their ideas and thus create a very helpful list of tools for your readers. You’re also given a page where you can list your websites and a brief bio.

A list is next. One of the cool new features on TipDrop is the ability to follow other Tipsters (I just made that up, lol.) We all know what Twitter has done for many online and offline entrepreneurs. You can go anywhere, read any magazine, or watch T.V. without hearing about someone using Twitter. I think TipDrop is going to quickly overtake Twitter. That’s my prediction.

Make money. Who doesn’t love this option? Jonathan is sharing the revenue from the Adsense ads on the site with us. You have always been able to earn 75% of the AdSense revenue generated from your TipDrop user pages and tip sheet pages.  Now, though, when you send people to the site through your referral link, you’ll earn 100% of the AdSense revenue from the “house pages” (the home page, search pages, category pages, etc.) and TipDrop’s 25%
share of the AdSense impressions on the user pages will go to you as well.

That’s a BIG deal, because the house pages get most of the traffic from the site.  People are always checking out the home page, the top tip sheets in a given category, doing searches, etc.  And 100% of those AdSense impressions will go to YOUR AdSense account.

Each visitor your send is tagged with a 30-year cookie indicating that you sent them.  That way every single time they return, if they click any of those ads, you’ll earn the revenue.

It’s simple!  Just sign up for a free TipDrop account (if you haven’t already), and send people to your referral page, which is: http://tipdrop.com/ref/Username

Replacing, of course, “Username” with your own TipDrop username.

In fact, why not go create an account now! Don’t forget to follow me!

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 With the global recession showing no imminent signs of getting better those involved in the travel industry must make their  marketing efforts more effective. Traditional high street travel agents are struggling as peoples holiday budgets dwindle and as increasingly Google et al increasingly is where holiday makers are researching and buying their holidays and flights. Because of this many travel agents increasingly are turning to their website and online marketing as an important way of generating new business.

Pay per click is fantastic for holiday and accommodation providers as the search engines are by far and away where most holiday/hotel bookings originate from.

Moreover as very often the keywords to be used are very targeted e.g. ‘holiday villa rental in nerja’ the conversion (lead/enquiry) rate can be very high and therefore cost per conversion low. Typical holiday provider advertisers can expect to see 3-10% conversion rates. Pay per click enables advertisers to target specific locations and types of holidays based on their changing requirements. For example i October advertisers could spend 50% of budget on targeting, for example, Costa Brava villa holidays and 50% on Javea villa holidays and in June 30% Southern Spain 30% diving 40% Northern Spain. Similarly pay per click advertisers could promote last minute deals if they hadsurplus inventory or packages they may be looking to sell quickly. Also a pay per click campaign can be turned on or off, up or down to reflect seasonality.

Other key pay per click benefits to the holiday/travel industry include:

- Can target any place in the world

- Enormous exposure on the worlds biggest search engines and content sites

- Detailed reporting tools such as Google Analytics help with measuring performance

- Helps build database for other marketing efforts (mailshots etc)

The most important Google pay per click advertising consideration to work on is the most influential variable affecting conversion (enquiry/sale) i.e. the web site. Research shows that sales via online enquiry are more prolific than direct online bookings. Therefore the site needs to be geared to make it very easy and likely for those enquiries to happen. Also if a strong call to action can be made applicable e.g. “fill in your details for free Spain holiday guide” (this can be an automated PDF or similar to keep costs down) it is a great way of capturing more potential buyers.

Optimize AdWords

Over the past few years, many different biding strategies circled the web. Most of them were based on experience, without any real reason why should they work for your business. The problem is that experience in online business is always limited. For some industries, ad positions between 4 and 6 give the best results, for other, first position works much better. Even in the same industry, different products can have different price, conversion rate or different business model.

Of course changing and testing different bids to achieve larger profit is always an option. But it takes too long and it can be really expensive. Automated bid managers can help, but time and money still remain large issues.

For this reason it would be ideal to choose bids that will work best for you without spending much time and money. So the question is: how to maximize your profit without spending months of adjusting the bids? This simple technique will show you just how you can do that.

All you need to use are AdWords Traffic Estimator and conversion tracking.

The measure we want to optimize is of course our profit. All other measures like ad position, CTR, conversion rate, CPC or even ROI are less important. First you install conversion tracking on your site, collect the data and calculate your average conversion value (divide profit by number of conversions). Then go to the AdWords Traffic Estimator and for each AdGroup:

1. Enter all keywords (from that AdGroup).
2. Adjust your targeting settings.
3. Select bid range for the estimates. It should be the range where you think your optimal bid probably is. It is not a problem if optimal bid is outside this range (step 6 deals with that problem).
4. Make iterative estimates for the bids in selected bid range. E.g. if you selected bid range between 1 and 2 USD, make iterative estimates for AdGroup bids of 1, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2 USD. More estimates you make, more accurate your results will be.
5. For every estimate, you need to calculate estimated profit. Estimated profit = Estimated clicks per day *(Conversion value * Conversion rate – Estimated Average CPC).
6. If the highest estimated profit is on one of the bid range borders, move your bid range and go to step 4.
7. If you are satisfied with the distance between estimated bids (if you think the results are precise enough) go to step 8, if not: select the bids with the highest estimated profit as the new bid range and go to step 4.
8. Bid that gives the highest estimated profit should become the new AdGroup bid.

And that’s it. If you want, you can use the same strategy to optimize bids on the keyword level.

Downside of this approach is that you can use it for search network only. There is no content network estimates in the AdWords Traffic Estimator. To fix this issue and to automate the whole process, you can use this AdWords Tool.

AdWords Intelligence as one of its many features includes Bid Estimator Tool. Bid Estimator Tool uses AdWords API to download statistical data for your AdGroups and traffic estimates for the whole range of bids. It uses advanced neural network algorithms to make those estimates as accurate as possible. AdWords Intelligence works for search and content network.

RSS Feeds How-To

Have you seen this symbol? If you read blogs, or frequent websites, I sure bet you have. RSS represents REAL SIMPLE SYNDICATION or Rich Site Summary (they both mean the same thing), which is a way for you, if you have an interest, to get new information, news, and anything else regarding that topic without having to surf through pages and pages on the Internet.

An RSS page is generated in XML which you are not able to see, but can be seen by the RSS Readers or Aggregators.

How Does RSS Work and What are RSS Feeds? When you find a blog that you enjoy reading, or a website, they offer a “news feed” where you are able to get their information on a regular basis sent directly to your “News Reader”. This is totally free for you and will be displayed right in your web browser, desktop, or homepage.

If you have seen the stock tickers which are giving you information in real time, allowing you to see what the stocks are doing without going to a website for the a information; this is how the RSS Feed works, delivering the information to your computer as it happens.

- Do You Need RSS? Well, let us take a closer look at the advantages of an RSS Feed and then ave you decide if you indeed need it or not.
- This saves your email inbox from getting unlimited newsletters,
- You never need to go and get the information,
-It is being sent to you without taking up too much valuable email storage space.

How much easier and hassle-free it is for you to have the newspaper delivered right in front of your doorstep vis-a-vis going to the store each and every morning to get it. This is virtually the same thing, you are having the news you are interested in delivered to you instead of you going out to find it.

An Example:

Let’s say you want to get as much information on viral marketing as that is what you are focusing on at the moment, you will take some time, search out some websites, and when you find something you like and want to stay up on, you simply click on the RSS, and this information will be delivered to you as it comes available. The other way would be to bookmark the page, then go to it every day to see if there is anything new you would be interested in. You need to wade through all unwanted and unnecessary information to find what you are looking for. Look how much time and energy you save when you use the RSS Feed option.

How Will RSS Function For You? There are so many ways this can work for you, there is no one answer. I am going to give you a simple answer allowing you to get RSS Feeds the easiest way possible. Remember however, this is not your only option, just a simple one.

The easiest way is to have it sent to your homepage of your browser.

For example,I used Google’s homepage and I have RSS feeds sent directly to my homepage that I have signed up for that specific genre of information.

Because I am a writer, I have a page dedicated to writing helps, topics, articles, and I have all of these sent to that home page via RSS. Now, if you already have an RSS newsreader or an aggregator, you can have it sent in there as well. I usually utilize both. I have my Google Reader where I have RSS Feeds sent to that I don’t read on a regular basis. The more crucial information is sent to my homepage.

If you are wondering about whether you have a newsreader or not, I would guess that you do and not even know it. If you have Yahoo, Google or Hotmail, you have an RSS reader. Let me help you set one up…We will use MSN as our example.

  1. Proceed to my.Msn.com and sign in. If you don’t have an account on one of these browsers I have mentioned, set up an account now. You can do this with Yahoo, Google, or MSN in a matter of minutes.
  2. Once you have signed in,you will see information such as weather, news, sports, stocks, local information and ads. This is your selection page, you can move things around, add or delete, making it tailored to your needs and interests. It is very easy to move them, simply click and drag from the top right of the subject area, moving them, using the minus (-) symbol in the top left area. If you delete one by accident, no worries, you can add them back anytime.
  3. Now in the top left area of the screen, you will see “Welcome”. You are going to add this content below your name, with four choices (Tabs) to assist you. The “Search” tab is the default tab, and from that point you will see your four options. If you know the web address (URL) for a sites newsfeed, enter it there. The three tabs remaining let you browse by subjects and names of companies. You just click on the box that you want.
  4. With Yahoo, you will notice that there are already some news feeds available listed as “Top Stories” from Reuters, along with “Politics”, “World News”, and “Business”. You will notice a big yellow box in the center above these stories giving you clear instructions on how to”Add Content”.
  5. After which, you must click on ‘Add Content’ link bringing up a search box which will allow you to ’search content’ about your preferred subject or topic.
  6. Type in your search phrase, search, and you will be presented an array o results. When you see something that you like, click “Add” next to it. Once you have made your selections, click “Finished” up on the top right of the page.

Now you have added RSS Newsfeeds to your MSN or Yahoo homepage.

When you scroll down your ‘My Yahoo’ page, you will be able to view the headlines you have just added. You can rearrange them in the order you want. If you decide you don’t want a particular fee any longer, then simply delete it.

How To Customize Your Own RSS? You may know a particular RSS feed you may like and don’t need to ’search’ for it. This is very simple to do. On almost all pages you will notice a small orange box that says XML, News Feeds or RSS Feeds. Then, you click on that button, and a set of instructions will come up on that same page. You will be given an option to choose that Feed to appear in your Aggregator or your homepage. There are some that permit you to copy and paste the news feed url and paste in onto your own news reader.

Don’t be anxious about the code, you are just looking at the ‘Feed Code’ which is the specific URL of the news feed.

This is such the best and convenient means to get news update and be informed on a regular basis. My favorite of all reader is te Google Reader, it is so simple to use and navigate.

The viral marketing business model was first described by Tim Draper and popularized in 1997 to describe Hotmail’s practice of adding advertising to the outgoing mail of their users. Viral marketing had been around for ages. So, it is word-of-mouth marketing.

It is in the nature of a person’s tendency to “tell their friends”. The terminology, or what we refer to this as, is new. Surveys tell us that the average individual online has at least six close friends they communicate with on a regular basis. If they have a great experience with a product they will on average, tell six people.

When an internet user finds something valuable, informative, hilarious, interesting or free online, they will share it with up to 12 friends. Thus the internet is the backdrop for the most successful viral marketing business model.

Marketing pros insist that in order to sell something, you need to give something away for free. I recently read an e-book about dieting and it was completely free. It made perfect sense. It was written by the marketing department of a supplement manufacturer. He suggested that you share the book with everyone. His goal, of course, was to sell supplements.

He might have sold the book. It contained as much information as many of the diet books that line bookstore shelves, but he realized the value of giving something away, in order to get something. Not only do people love free stuff, they have a tendency to “trust” people or companies that give them something with no strings attached, especially when that something has value.

You will see numerous software programs on the web that offer a free version and a “pro” version. This is another example of a viral marketing business model. If a person sees any free software program, they usually share it with up to 12 people they know would like to try it as well.

Social networking is becoming increasingly popular. People with a Facebook account have thousands of online friends and they communicate with some of them daily. If you can provide something that they want to share, then you may have a viral campaign waiting to happen.

There are other elements of a successful viral marketing business model. The key element is designing the free item campaign for something free that people can share with others.

Alex Jeffreys: The Nightmare

Alex Jeffreys has created a buzz with a video he put together about a new report. He’s promised to write about the #1 thing that hold us back from making money online.

Aside from the content of his video, I learned three very important lessons that I’ve included in this short little video.

1. Start off with an eyeball-grabbing, gotta-find-out-what-he’s-talking-about subject line.

2. Create curiosity in the first paragraph or 30 seconds of your message.

3. Use a call to action. Give them something to do, site to visit, or action to take.

Watch this little video and let me know what you learned from Alex’s video.

I believe that list building is the most important strategy you can follow if you’re into Internet Marketing.

The reason is fairly simple; when you have a visitor to your web-site, you have just one opportunity for that visitor to take a desired action (i.e. bookmark, opt in, sign up, recommend, inquire, purchase etc.). However, if that same visitor signs-up to your list, then you have a lot of opportunities to encourage that visitor to take desired action, for example, referring your site to others thus encouraging massive web traffic.

For example, when visitors sign up for my 366 FREE Internet Marketing Tips AND Secrets I have 366 chances to build trust, my reputation and all good things like that. I also have 366 chances to get that person to do what I want them to (because I send them a tip or secret every single day). Now, they may not do what I want them to do. They might not recommend my site maybe because of other matters like website webpage design and anything else. They may just take the tips and ‘run’. That’s fine too. Because I know that SOME of the people on the list will do what I want them to. It’s just human nature.. It’s called reciprocity. It’s what most religions are based on. Do unto others as you want done to yourself, so that’s number one on my list:

1. Give away a LOT. You will get it back (in one shape or form).

2. Add multiple opt-in forms to all your web pages, give people plenty of opportunity to sign up.  I make no apology for the fly in you get when you enter, nor the exit pop up either. I want you to sign up!!

3. Give away a valuable gift. In my case, I give away over 100 free gifts, worth nearly $3,000!!

4. Make your content relevant and keep your subscribers happy. Go over the top. Like I say, give away a LOT.

5. Try using drop-down boxes and pop-ups. It’s a fine line and I know I go over the top, but pop up, drop down, fly in, test them out and see which works best.

6. Use squeeze pages. In other words, a page where the visitor has little option other than to sign up. Of course, you need them to WANT to sign up, that’s where the ’squeeze’ comes in..

7. Publish articles and submit them everywhere. Point your author resource box at your squeeze page. More on Article Marketing here

8. Write a review page, publish that on other blogs, again, leading to your squeeze page.

9. Record audios and publish podcasts.

10. Use forum postings

11. Use a good tell a friend script

12. Start your own forum.

13. Invest in Pay Per Click advertising such as Adwords or Yahoo

14. Write testimonials for other people to gain publicity.

15. Publish a viral e-book with links to your squeeze page embedded.

16. Swap ads with other publishers. This can be as simple as ‘you show mine, I’ll show yours’ all the way through to a genuine joint venture.

17. Sponsor a contest to create buzz.

18. Create a membership site only for subscribers

19. Create another opt-in form on someone’s thank you page

20. Publish a Press Release

21. Purchase ezine solo ads or classified ads in ezines.

22. Sumbit to ezine directories.

23. It would also be best if you can create a giveaway application or plug-in.

24. Use Top Sponsors’ Ads in ezines

25. Give your business card away to everyone you meet.

26. Create your own Affiliate program for your own product

27. Add URL links to your email signatures.

28. Always check to see if your newsletter is kept away from the spam lists.

29. Create a 5 day e-course for new subscribers.

30. Purchase subscribers (going rate around 30c per subscriber)

31. Copy from the best. Sign up for newsletters. Carefully take note of the different tactics used, from the sign up (was it fly in, pop up, inline etc.?), what type of page was the landing page from the opt in form? After you confirmed your e-mail address? What incentive was used to encourage you to sign up? What was the content like? Copy the best ideas!! What did you like? What didn’t you like? I’m sure you get the idea…

32. Use List Hero.

33. Remember to use Automated List Builder.

There you go. 33 great tips and secrets to get your list building on it’s way.. If you would like to add a list building tip or secret not listed here, please comment below. Thanks, Allen.

Article Marketing Help

Just wanted to let you know about this fantastic software program I acquired a little while ago.

Today is the day that I go into town to run errands and see my massage therapy client. Before I leave the house I just had to write about this. If you’re using article marketing to help generate traffic to your blog or website, I really think this little tool will help you tremendously.

I’ve outsourced some of my article writing tasks and have been mostly happy with the results. I was able to submit one of them without much editing, but the other article had to be rewritten quite extensively in order to be accepted. I’ve also tried an article writing software that is very good, but it costs about $27 per month to use it.  The other version is one that you can download to your computer and costs about $67. You still have to give the articles your own voice.

The software I just purchased is only $8 and does the research for you. You type in your keyword and hit the submit button and off it goes to Google to search for relevant sites with content that you can use for research. Of course, you must use this responsibly and not plagerize the content. I’m looking forward to using this tool and will give you more of a review after I spend some time with it. For now, I’m very pleased to find such a great article research tool for a fraction of the cost other’s are charging.

If you’re an affiliate marketer you can join their affiliate program and make 100% commissions.

Go to Article Ideas Tool and let me know what you think.

All the best,
Theresa

Keyword Marketing Research

Finding the keywords or long-tail keyword phrases that your readers are using to find you is probably one of the most challenging tasks we face in internet marketing.

There are all kinds of software programs and many ebooks have been written on this subject to help you. Are you actually finding the gold nugget keywords that drive your pages to the top of the search engines?

I have a few suggestions that may help you.

Google Adwords has a great free tool that helps you to see what the average search volume is, advertiser competition, and returns a list of keywords related to your original keyword submission.

Jennifer “Potpie Girl” Ledbetter posted about how she does keyword research and has some very helpful tips on the subject.

I am studying Linda Carroll’s golden ladder method of finding keywords with high KEI (keyword effectiveness index) and am finding that I really enjoy research. In fact, I like it so much  that I’m creating a new site to offer a service to those who find this a daunting task or just don’t have time for it.

Stay tuned, I’ll let you know when the site is live so you can head on over and put  me to work for you.
